Description:

Journeyman Carpenter / Fence & Deck Builder
GCS is looking for a Journeyman Carpenter / fence & deck builder to work in their carpentry division. The ideal candidate would possess a strong work ethic and have experience building decks, fences, privacy screens, pergolas, and a general knowledge of all aspects of framing and outdoor carpentry.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years carpentry experience
  • Motivated, hard working, punctual
  • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract
  • Physically fit
  • Strong time management skills
  • High attention to detail and very customer service orientated
  • Familiar with the maintenance and use of various woodworking tools i.e., table saw, mitre saw, circular saw, drills etc.
  • Gas powered tool maintenance and operation
  • Safe truck and trailer loading and operation
  • Able to handle basic carpentry tasks (i.e., fence construction, basic deck framing, post setting)
  • General understanding of construction procedures
  • Safety conscious
  • Organized and good with documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Construct decks, fences, pergolas and concrete formwork for projects in the Edmonton area
  • Read and understand landscape plans
  • Confident in measuring and use tape measures, levels, and angle finding
  • Ability to use power tools such as saws, drills, grinders, etc.
  • Building pressure treated, cedar and composite/PVC decks, stairs, fences, privacy screens, pergolas, benches, gates, etc.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
  • Works diligently toward building and maintaining a high level of quality
  • Follow and enforce company polices for all on site personnel
