Description POSITION SUMMARY Milwaukee Repertory Theater is accepting applications for a quality-oriented yet efficient carpenter. The Scenic Carpenter works with a team of two others and is responsible for the realization of scenic elements for all Milwaukee Rep productions. The scenic department is a collaborative team of artists and technicians dedicated to achieving the highest production values possible. Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt, seasonal, hourly position paid at $32.87 per hour. The bulk of the work hours will happen during normal business hours and the duration of the position runs July 7, 2026 to April 4, 2027. Work rules, benefits, and compensation are governed by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between Milwaukee Rep and IATSE Local 18. Major Duties and Responsibilities Include: Under the direction of the Technical Director and Lead Carpenter, construct and assemble all scenic elements for Milwaukee Repertory Theater productions Work with over-hire crew to ensure the safe and efficient installation and removal of scenic elements in all venues Maintain a clean and orderly scene shop Attend coordination and company meetings as needed Maintain safe working environments in all performance spaces and scene shop Additional duties as required Requirements REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Technical Knowledge and Experience: Minimum 2 years working in a large-scale scene shop or equivalent Solid layout and construction skills; working with wood, steel, and non-traditional building materials Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings Knowledge of theatrical construction techniques Familiarity with scenic automation is a plus Willingness to learn and expand capabilities in all areas of technical production Milwaukee Rep Values Employees Who: Communicate well with a diverse group of colleagues, and are able to accept and incorporate feedback Demonstrate an aptitude and eagerness to learn new skills and processes when necessary Solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges individually and in a group environment Have excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and diplomacy skills and ability to be self-directed and take initiative Demonstrate a commitment to our mission and core values both in the workplace and in our community.
