QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Secondary School education
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A Certificate of Journeyman Carpenter Trades Qualification authorized by the Province of British Columbia
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact and work with others effectively
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Capacity to use relevant machines and equipment
Responsibilities
  • Reviewing work requests, communicating with user departments, and evaluating designs, drawings, and specifications to understand project needs
  • Maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools
  • Conducting operational and safety risk assessments for work projects
  • Arranging work schedules with user departments and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Designing, constructing, and maintaining woodwork, doors, and hardware
  • Installing and repairing structural elements such as T-bar ceiling grids, wall guards, handrails, and wall components that adhere to the relevant Building Codes and By-Laws
  • Completing relevant reports and records, such as daily work summary sheets
  • Performing other general maintenance and repair duties related to building exteriors and equipment
  • Handling a variety of areas such as concrete formwork, fencing, barricades, playground equipment, or cladding
  • Assigning work tasks to designated staff and providing related training and orientation
