Job Details Job Location: Wolf Trap HeadQuarters - Vienna, VA 22182 Position Type: Seasonal Job Category: Opera and Classical Programming Work Schedule: Evenings and weekends during tech will be required Position Location: 100% On-site Pay Rate: Pay rate starts at $21-$25/hr. (based on experience) and is overtime eligible. Position is paid bi-weekly as W2 employment. Housing is NOT provided for this position. Benefits: 403(b) Retirement Plan; Complimentary tickets to select performances; Discounts at Concessions and the Gift Shop DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is seasonal; 35+ hours per week; from May through the end of August. Early hiring to assist with scene shop opening and setup is available for candidates who can start before May 1st. Start and end dates can be flexible dependent on show requirements. Eligible candidates may start as early as February / March 2026 to help with pre-season preparations. POSITION SUMMARY: Carpenters are responsible for safely executing all scenic elements, helping to mentor our Technical Theater Apprentices, helping to maintain a safe clean work area, load in and strike, and restoring the Barns at the end of the season. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Build and maintain all scenery for two opera productions in the Barns. Provide production support for seasonal Opera productions. Assist in the mentorship of all Technical Theater Apprentices. Assist in the maintenance of the scene shop and Barns stage, including load in and strike of each production, and restoring the Barns at the end of the season. REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated experience in scenic construction / or woodworking. Minimum 1 year of scene shop or equivalent educational experience. Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift/move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend and reach with arms up to 50 percent of the time.
