POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Site Foreman of our General Contracting Division, the Carpenter is responsible for performing general and finish carpentry work according to plans and specifications while also providing support to the concrete foreman. This is a rotational based position where camp accommodations and meals are provided.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Carpenter Apprenticeship Level 1 – 4 or Red Seal Certification is preferred.
  • Experience working on water treatment plant or sewage treatment plant projects would be considered an asset.
  • Working with Gates system and Coil Rod formwork systems would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads.
  • Ensure safety is a top priority at all times.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to self-start and take initiative on tasks.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, project specifications, and construction plans accurately to ensure precise execution of carpentry tasks.
  • Provide support to concrete foreman with project layout and elevation shooting.
  • Erecting/building scaffolding and ladders needed to assemble structures.
  • Install formwork for concrete foundations, walls, slabs, columns, elevated decks, and other site-specific concrete structures.
  • Measure, cut, and shape materials for building precise forms used in the pouring of concrete, adhering to project requirements.
  • Safely operate a variety of carpentry tools, including electrical, air-powered, and hand tools, to perform carpentry and formwork tasks.
  • Provide support with fabrication during projects.
  • Offer general labour support to other team members as needed, assisting with various tasks assigned by supervisors to ensure project efficiency.
