Description Position Summary: St. Mary’s College is seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter to support the maintenance and improvement of campus buildings and structures. The Carpenter will be responsible for a wide range of carpentry tasks including construction, repair, installation, and renovation of wood and metal structures, cabinetry, furniture, doors, and windows. This role plays an important part in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our historic and modern campus facilities. Key Responsibilities: Construct, install, and repair structures such as walls, partitions, floors, doors, windows, stairs, furniture, cabinetry, and shelving. Interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures. Perform finish carpentry including trim, molding, and other detail work. Repair and install locks, door hardware, and related fixtures. Maintain campus furniture, including desks, tables, chairs, and shelving. Work with other maintenance staff and contractors on renovation and remodeling projects. Ensure compliance with all building codes, safety standards, and college policies. Maintain inventory of materials, tools, and supplies. Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner. Participate in snow removal, emergency response, or other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: Required: High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience in a commercial, institutional, or facilities environment. Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, carpentry techniques, and materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Valid driver’s license. Preferred: Trade school certificate or apprenticeship training in carpentry. Experience working in an educational or campus environment. Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility standards. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, or in confined spaces. Capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing physical labor for extended periods. Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor conditions year-round.
