POSITION OVERVIEW

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Carpenter for the Elizabeth Packard Health Center located in Springfield, Illinois to receive day-to-day guidance from the Chief Stationary Engineer. Performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, repair and/or alteration within the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center. Works in the carpenter shop. Performs cabinet work. Adheres to applicable Public Health, Public Aid, Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), and Accreditation Council for People with Developmental Disabilities (ACDD) standards. Travels in the performance of carpentry and cabinetwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires completion of an approved apprenticeship program to qualify as a journey level carpenter.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Requires an appropriate, valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders, stairs, and roofs and access all locations at the facility.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

    Work Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday; 30-minute unpaid lunch

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
