REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chapter 74 Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Carpentry (required)
- Current Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) (required)
- OSHA & Red Cross “train the trainer” certification or willingness to obtain within the first year of service
- Five years of recent (within the last seven years) full-time employment experience directly related to carpentry/construction
- Five years of recent (within the last seven years) full-time employment experience directly related to a construction program
- Evidence of mastery of various teacher competencies and understanding of instructional techniques.
- Proficiency in construction methods, including but not limited to:
- Health and safety knowledge
- Technical drawings and blueprints
- Building repair and alteration
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and green building technologies
- Recordkeeping and client relations skills
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
- Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
- Current authorization to work in the United States
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced educational preparation.
- Educational leadership experience.
- Curriculum development experience and knowledge of technical competencies with curriculum frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting English language Learners.
Work Year: Teachers in Salem Public Schools work a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days. Please click here to view the 2025-26 district and/or school calendars.
Salary: Teacher salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement (see Appendix A for salary information)
