EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Law, Child Development, Mental Health or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of directly related work experience in areas such as volunteer training and management, case management, as well as direct service to children, youth and young
  • Training and group facilitation experience is desired
  • Work experience should include accurate and timely collection and documentation of information

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects of varying complexity simultaneously
  • Familiarity with topics related to families in the dependency system, such as the effects of trauma on children, domestic violence, substance use disorders and child abuse
  • Demonstrated advocacy skills for children and the volunteers who serve them

    Supervisor: Program Manager
    Status: Full-time, exempt
    Location: Milpitas, California; three days in office, two days remote possibility.

    Applicants must be able to complete CASA Volunteer pre-service training within six months of hire.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a CASA Supervisor to join the Programs Department, which is responsible for serving foster children by offering comprehensive trauma-responsive services delivered by recruited, trained, and supported Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers. The CASA Supervisor’s primary focus is to support CASAs in advocating effectively for children and youth, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to drive positive, lasting outcomes for the children they serve. This role will manage a caseload of CASAs, assist with court processes, and ensure the timely completion of court reporting and administrative tasks. We want someone who is passionate about standing up for youth, and has a strong working knowledge of child development, programming, and the child dependency system.

The CASA Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct supervision, regular feedback and guidance to CASAs while managing a caseload of approximately 30 volunteers, including those who supervise other CASAs (CASA Mentors).
  • Facilitating orientation sessions for new CASAs to familiarize them with the histories of their assigned cases, as well as their roles and responsibilities.
  • Scheduling and leading monthly meetings with assigned CASAs, focusing on advocacy plans and progress updates.
  • Documenting case-specific details and ensuring timely submission of court reports and other essential materials by CASAs.
  • Responding to inquiries and providing personalized support and resources to CASAs and
  • Ensuring CASAs have access to resources, including peer discussions, continuing education offerings and trauma responsive activities and events for CASAs and their youth.
