QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Montessori Casa teacher with an AMI or MACTE approved Montessori diploma (required);
  • At least 3 years of work experience in Montessori school;
  • A team player who is kind, caring and enthusiastic;
  • Someone with a passion for teaching, who is flexible and who strives to help each child reach their full potential;
  • Current CPR and first aid certificate (required);
  • Current criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening (required);
  • Updated Immunization record (required);
  • Experienced of using the daycare software – School Cues (preferred but not required)
Responsibilities
  • Prepare an environment in which the furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the group in accordance with Montessori Program;
  • Teacher is responsible for the care and maintenance of classroom materials. Teacher will maintain an orderly environment, keeping it clean and in like new condition. The children are to be brought into this responsibility (sharpening pencils, sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables and dusting shelves);
  • Assist in planning and implementing Open Houses throughout the year (Two required to attend annually).
  • Maintain an inventory of the classroom (materials, books) Informing Administrators when anything becomes lost or damaged.
  • Attend staff meetings, parent information evenings, parent/teacher interview evenings and any special meetings requested by the administrators;
  • Hand in monthly lesson plans outlining each of the classroom areas (lesson plans are due the last Friday of each month);
  • Reading Records- teachers will implement the school reading program and will ensure that reading progress is tracked each week;
  • Maintain current and accurate academic records. Two conferences will be required in the Casa level with the parents. Have on-going communication with the parents in regard to their child’s specific needs;
  • Notify the Administrators immediately of personal difficulties with children, parents or staff;
  • Protect the privacy and working atmosphere of students, fellow employees and parents at all times;
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Administrators on program changes;
  • Train and supervise children in the execution of fire drills. Fire drills must be practiced once a month and recorded in the classroom binder;
  • Report all accidents at once. Complete an accident report when required and have it signed and filed;
  • Adhere to Montessori guidelines and professional standards as a private school, for the purpose of maintaining quality and excellence;
  • Understand and exhibit a professional manner. Concerns should be addressed in a diplomatic, mature, unemotional, facilitating open dialogue that would allow for the best solution for the child.
