SUMMARY:

Case Aide performs various supportive activities for casework services in support of the needs of the Family Foster Care Program. Duties may include “support activities” such as collecting information or investigating situations to obtain information about family situations; directly assisting children and family members in various ways, e.g., providing transportation, arranging home visits, accompanying children to service providers, participating in and reporting observations and findings at case conferences. Work is performed under the supervision of a Case Work Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree is strongly preferred plus a minimum of two years of prior experience as an Office Assistant.
  • High School Degree or GED equivalent also considered with prior experience in child welfare environment.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Assists with locating information regarding parents/families and resources in the community and communicates information to case planners.
  • Follows through on-case aide-related assignments, i.e., make home visits when approved by the Case Work Supervisor, help supervise child-family contact visits. Accompany children to service providers.
  • Assist with office clerical duties, including photocopying, filing documents in case records, processing letters and other mailings, serving as a receptionist – answering telephones and taking messages.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly, safe, and informative on-site environment for children and parents.
  • Promptly reports hazards and all observations suggesting suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children to the appropriate individual.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Performs related and similar duties as required or assigned.
