Reports to the Program Manager for the development and implementation of individual career plans and an overall agency strategic job placement plan. In order to achieve this, the Career Counselor/Case Manager will need to develop and implement complex Casework plans, counseling strategies designed to assist participants in attaining economic self-sufficiency and social and emotional well-being, and facilitate job readiness classes that appeal to various learning styles and utilizes various modes of instruction to maintain active participation by program participants. The Career Counselor/Case Manager will provide coaching and instruction in the form of one-on-one meetings and group workshops to develop and guide youth in gaining life skills such as: finance, mental health, substance abuse and employment to help them meet their personal, educational and employment goals. This will also involve assisting youth in the formulation of career goals, mental health goals and utilizing current job market data to provide career advice to program participants that delineate steps and timelines in their employability plan to achieve employment and academic success. This position will consist of training for and conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group psychoeducation sessions. The Career Counselor/Case Manager must actively pursue and follow-up on local job and educational opportunities, and job shadowing and internships; to assist program participants in determining their career goals; to assess trainees employability and vocational skills and provide appropriate training. Also, identify areas of growth for youth, connect them to counseling services as needed, make home visits, increase their personal responsibility and practicing of effective problem-solving.
