Job Summary
The Case Department supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the cabinet case assembly department. This includes managing personnel, ensuring adherence to production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety protocols. The supervisor acts as a working leader, balancing hands-on tasks with supervisory duties to ensure efficient, high-quality output.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage a team of cabinetmakers and assemblers.
- Assign tasks and monitor productivity to meet production deadlines.
- Train and mentor team members on proper assembly techniques, shop safety, and lean practices.
Production Oversight
- Review shop drawings and production orders to plan and organize daily work.
- Ensure all casework is built to specification and quality standards.
- Monitor inventory of hardware and materials; coordinate with material handler or purchasing for restocking.
- Collaborate with CNC, finishing, and shipping departments to maintain workflow continuity.
Quality Control
- Inspect assembled cabinets for accuracy, finish readiness, and structural integrity.
- Resolve technical before cabinet are moved to finishing or shipping.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies or rework trends.
Safety & Maintenance
- Enforce company safety protocols and ensure proper PPE use.
- Keep the department clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Report and help coordinate maintenance of equipment and tools used in the department.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cabinetmaking or casework assembly.
- Strong knowledge of cabinet construction methods, hardware installation, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and cutlists.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- OSHA safety training or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials (up to 50 lbs) throughout the workday.
- Attention to detail for hands-on assembly tasks.
- Tolerance for working in a moderate-noise, dust-controlled shop environment.
