(Open) Pay Grade U05019 A Classification Case Management Coordinator Class Definition The Case Management Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of appellate cases. This includes opening and maintaining accurate client files; tracking all deadlines, court notices, and case developments; formatting, assembling, and e-filing documents; and closing completed cases in accordance with the office’s record retention policies. A significant part of the role involves direct communication with clients, most of whom are incarcerated. The Coordinator provides timely updates by phone and letter about transcript preparation and other procedural developments in the appeal. The Coordinator also answers routine procedural questions within the scope of training and directs legal questions to the assigned attorney. Additionally, the Coordinator proofreads, formats, and mails letters to clients on behalf of the appellate attorneys. Supplemental Information The Rhode Island Public Defender seeks a Case Management Coordinator to support the Appellate Division in its representation of indigent clients before the Rhode Island Supreme Court. This role is central to the operations of the appellate unit and requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to independently manage time-sensitive, detail-oriented tasks. The Case Management Coordinator must also have proficiency with e-filing platforms, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PDF creation/editing tools.
