Case Processors in the Misdemeanor Trial Unit are responsible for administrative support through the life of a case, from creation to adjudication. Duties include creating and maintaining physical and electronic case files, preparing charging documents, accessing and printing records from LEISS, JIC, and CJIS, and overseeing file organization and storage. They manage multiple calendars, pull files for scheduled matters, and close files post-adjudication. Interaction with the courts and law enforcement is frequent and includes requesting and obtaining both electronic and physical evidence, as well as ongoing communication with court staff. Case Processors in this unit may also be called upon to provide coverage and support for other units within the Criminal Division as needed.
Case Processors in the Felony Screening Unit focus on front-end case preparation and intake support. Duties include preparing charging documents, restitution letters, and other filings for the courts; accessing and printing documents from CJIS and JIC; managing calendars and pulling associated files; and closing preliminary hearing and plea files in case tracking and CJIS systems. They also assist with transferring files to trial units and tracking those transfers. Case Processors in this unit rotate coverage at the intake scheduling desk and may provide additional assistance to other Case Processing staff or the CPU Supervisor. The role requires frequent interaction with the courts and law enforcement, particularly in scheduling intakes and coordinating bail reduction and video bail calendars.
