ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Client Services and Program Delivery:
Pathway of Hope Case Management
- Work in partnership and with oversight from the Corps Officer and the Territorial Pathway of Hope Specialist.
- Serve as the lead caseworker and primary contact for Pathway of Hope at the ministry unit.
- Build trust and rapport with participants, walking alongside them through relational, goal-focused casework.
- Maintain a caseload of up to 6 POH participants; conduct client intake, assessments, goal setting, and regular check-ins.
- Follow the full POH casework model (prescreening, intake, assessment, goal planning, action, transition, and follow-up).
- Provide emotional, social, and practical support to participants, referring to community and internal resources as needed.
- Facilitate access to pastoral care and church community support when appropriate.
- Participate in local, divisional, and territorial POH meetings, trainings, and evaluations.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records and case notes in Link2Feed.
Community Ministries & Family Services
- Work in partnership and with oversight from the Community Ministries Coordinator and Corps Officer and assist them in planning and implementation of programming for individuals and families.
- Provide community services, including appointment coordination, intake, assessment, and distribution of food or clothing vouchers.
- Organize and maintain pantry (Sally Shop), including restocking and decanting as required.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of seasonal programs (e.g., Christmas assistance, summer camps, back to school backpack program, Tax clinic).
- Support clients through relational interaction and intentional follow-up.
- Share the hope and love of Jesus through respectful, supportive conversation and prayer, as appropriate to each client’s spiritual journey.
- Encourage connection to the Corps community and church-based programs through outreach efforts.
- May assist with programs involving children and youth, including camp transportation, Food on the Move, and seasonal assistance programs.
- Attend community meetings on behalf of Community Services program as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate client files and statistical records.
- Performs other position related duties as assigned.
Administrative/General Office
- Answer phones, make appointments and complete required paperwork.

- Track and report program outcomes, client progress, and other relevant information to share at staff meetings and in internal communications.

Communication
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Keep the Corps Officer informed of emerging client needs or program issues.
- Participate in internal meetings and team collaboration to support a healthy, effective ministry environment.
Community Networking & Partnerships
- Network with local agencies, churches, and government services to enhance referrals and resource sharing.
- Represent The Salvation Army at community meetings or events as directed.
- Promote POH and CFS initiatives in the community and support partner engagement.
EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years of Experience in the field of Social Services or related field
- Education or training in the area of addictions is an asset.
- Education or training in the area of trauma is an asset.
- Education or training in the area of grief is an asset.
- Experience with community development considered an asset
- Demonstrated competence in developing and maintaining appropriate client relationships and interagency relations.
- Ability to coach and motivate others.
- Proficient in the use of computers and databases (particularly Excel, Word, Internet and, familiar with Office 365).
- Experience dealing with office equipment and tools.
- Experience working in a variety of social media and web-based platform.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Develop an understanding of the Mission of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Must comply with all Salvation Army policies and procedures and associated legislation.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn the standards, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army.
- Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgement.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
- Participate in regular supervision and performance appraisal process.
- Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.

- Work in compliance with the OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
- Valid Driver’s License required for use of Salvation Army program vehicle; an original copy of a current Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $20.75 to $25.94 with a maximum of $31.13.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
