POSITION OVERVIEW

The Cash Accountant will oversee the end-to-end flow of funds across our payment ecosystem, ensuring that funds move seamlessly, securely, and in alignment with our internal and partner requirements. From monitoring daily settlements and cash positioning to reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies, you’ll own the integrity of our payment lifecycles. You will manage the day-to-day execution of funds movement while continuously improving the controls, reporting, and processes that underpin them. By safeguarding the complete flow of funds, from initiation to settlement, you will help maintain trust with clients, ensure compliance with partners, and provide the operational foundation for scalable growth.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in cash accounting, treasury operations, or high-volume reconciliation (preferably in banking, fintech, or payments)
  • Strong understanding of cash movement, settlement flows, and payment operations
  • Advanced Excel skills, experience with reconciliation tools and accounting/ERP systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with proven ability to manage large transaction volumes under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively with banking and payment partners
  • Strong problem solving and investigative mindset, with the ability to resolve issues independently and escalate when needed
Responsibilities

Reconciliation & Transaction Management

  • Perform high-volume reconciliations of cash movement across multiple accounts, including operating accounts, settlement accounts, client funding accounts, and partner bank accounts
  • Track, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in daily cash flow activity, including ACH, wire, prepaid card, and check transactions
  • Manage all client funding accounts including monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation reports, highlighting exceptions, unresolved items, and root cause analysis for variances
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies, ensuring breaks are aged, tracked, and cleared within set SLAs

Partner Coordination

  • Work closely with banking partners, payment processors, and internal teams to ensure settlement and cash movement are timely, accurate, and properly recorded
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure general ledger alignment and accurate financial reporting
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to resolve breaks and ensure proper accounting

Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal controls over cash processes, including segregation of duties, approval workflows, and escalation protocols
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews by maintaining accurate, organized records of all reconciliations and cash activities
  • Ensure settlement and reconciliation processes comply with regulatory, partner, and contractual requirements

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline reconciliation and reporting processes, leveraging automation and best practices
  • Design and implement automation and reporting improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk
