Job Title: Cashier Department: Visitor Services                   Reports to: Guest Experience Manager    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt               Job Status: Part-time                Job Purpose: Responsible for collecting of admission fees, donations, distribution of maps, and other promotional materials to our guests.  Achieves maximum sales profitability by effectively selling tickets, memberships, rides wristbands, and/or related services. Offer outstanding guest service skills. ---------------------------------------- JOB FACTORS:                                  Essential Duties & Responsibilities  * Sell tickets and other promotional items to guests * Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services and assists guest in selecting those best suited to their needs * Ability to handle cash, credit cards and checks accurately * Operates a computer terminal and record discount information, separately tracking each coupon and promotion. Ability to make change and to perform simple arithmetic calculations with accuracy and with reasonable speed * Provide quality guest interaction and service * Issues receipts, tickets, and change with accuracy    * Balances and clears terminal and counts all fees received for the day * Keeps workstation and surrounding area clean and organized. Restocking of supplies each day as needed * May be on occasions assigned to assist in other areas of the zoo with crowd control or assist with rides department * Ability to deal courteously with the public and zoo team members. Develop and maintain harmonious relationship with other employees  * Performs other duties as assigned by department management team     QUALIFICATIONS:   Knowledge: * Possess good writing and verbal skills  * Computer skills required * Zoo, hospitality or entertainment industries a plus or related experience   * 2-3 years of sales experience preferred * Experience dealing with the public and computers preferred   Special skills and abilities: * Must have outstanding ability to work with people * Must enjoy being around/with children * Must have exceptional customer service skills * Mandatory availability on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as most holidays and evenings.    Education: * High School diploma or GED    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:    * Must be able to lift 35+ lbs    WORK ENVIRONMENT:  * Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.  * Must be comfortable working in cold and hot weather conditions.   MISC: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
