POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Cashier plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service by efficiently processing transactions, assisting customers with purchases, and supporting the overall operations of the pharmacy. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor in a healthcare environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred, ideally in a retail or healthcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in handling transactions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly and provide assistance at the cash register and front counter.
  • Accurately process sales transactions, including cash, debit, credit, and insurance-related payments.
  • Maintain knowledge of store promotions, loyalty programs, and discounts to assist customers.
  • Answer customer inquiries, directing them to the appropriate staff (pharmacist or pharmacy technician) when necessary.
  • Assist with stocking shelves, organizing displays, and maintaining cleanliness in the front store and cashier area.
  • Monitor and manage front-end supplies (bags, receipt paper, etc.).
  • Handle customer concerns with professionalism and escalate issues when required.
  • Follow all pharmacy policies and confidentiality requirements (including HIPAA/PHIPA guidelines, if in Canada).
  • Support daily opening and closing procedures, including balancing the till and preparing deposits.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and front-store staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience.
