JOB SUMMARY:

The Cashier/Customer Service Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to all ReStore visitors. This role includes processing sales transactions, providing assistance with purchases, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to Habitat ReStore’s vision of supporting the community and furthering Habitat’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous cashier or retail customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers and team members.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of or interest in Habitat for Humanity’s mission is an asset.
  • Available to work Monday – Saturday.
  • A positive, friendly attitude with a customer-first approach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a retail environment with varying levels of activity.
Responsibilities
  • Customer Service:
  • Greet customers warmly and assist with their shopping experience.
  • Answer customer questions regarding products, pricing, and store policies.
  • Provide information on Habitat for Humanity’s mission, projects, and the impact of their purchases.
  • Address customer concerns or complaints in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Promote and encourage customer participation in ReStore donation programs.
  • Sales Transactions:
  • Accurately process sales transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods, ensuring proper transactions and balancing of cash drawers.
  • Issue receipts, process returns and exchanges according to store policy.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient checkout process for customers.
  • Store Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean and organized front-of-house area, including the checkout counter and surrounding space.
  • Assist in stocking and organizing merchandise on the sales floor as needed.
  • Ensure pricing is accurate and product displays are visually appealing.
  • Help with sorting and merchandising donations when required.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with ReStore team members to meet sales goals and provide a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist in inventory management and stock replenishment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and security procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with loss prevention efforts and report any suspicious activities or safety hazards.
