About Us: Dollar Express is the newest entrant in the dollar store segment of the retail industry. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Dollar Express operates 330 Stores in 36 states. General Summary: Provides customer service by greeting customers, assisting them in selecting and locating merchandise, and completing their transactions. Answers customer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Under direction of Store Manager, assists in maintaining appearance of store and assists in unloading, stocking, restocking in order to facilitate customer-shopping needs. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Greets and assists customers in a positive, approachable manner. 2. Handles situations with the best interest of both the customer and Company in mind. 3. Maintains positive Company image to customers and community. 4. Accurately handles customer funds and processes transactions using the POS system. 5. At the direction of the Store Manager, stocks shelves and recovers merchandise in the store. 6. At the direction of the Store Manager, assists in unloading merchandise from delivery truck, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store. 7. At the direction of the Store Manager, assists in maintaining a clean, well-stocked store for customers. 8. Assists Store Manager in loss prevention by being aware of customers while they are in the store and providing excellent customer service. 9. Follows all Company Policies and Procedures. 10. All other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Education: Prefer completion of high school or equivalent. Basic literacy & numerical skills. Must be able to read and interpret merchandising schematics/instructions, policy/procedural/training manuals, and other operational directives/communications. Experience: Prefer some experience working with people/public; retail, hotel, restaurant, grocery or drug store environments a plus. Physical Requirements: Prefer the ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (and occasionally, up to 55 lbs.) from floor level to above shoulder height and adequate fitness level to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation. Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
