Description Cashier Shift Lead We are seeking a motivated and responsible Shift Lead to join our dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills while ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, customer-focused, and capable of managing team members effectively to deliver exceptional service. CASH HANDLING & SECURITY Adhere strictly to all company policies on security, cash control and tender / paperwork handling. Responsible for all money handling during shift including accurate pickups, loans, change making, cash till reconciliations and deposits. Responsible for control of cash room and safe during scheduled shift. Enforce and perform all money security procedures during shift i.e., keeping cash tills locked in day safe or register drawer while cashiers are on break. Assign cash tills and registers to cashiers during scheduled shift. Responsible for giving manager approvals, when needed, according to company policies. Responsible for properly sealing and double signing cashier cash tills and shift bank deposits. SUPERVISING CASHIERS Assign duties and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Determine work procedures, initiate 10 minute and meal breaks, and expedite workflow. Direct customer service staff to ensure responsive and efficient customer checkout, keeping lines to a minimum at all times. Upon direction from department manager, initiates and verifies cashier Produce Walk-Through & PLU Test according to Front End policies. Assure cashier follow-through and timely departmental communications for “Not Found” sheets, “Price Change” sheets & Negative Response logs. Have a solid understanding of all register functions in order to handle cashier register issues and assist ongoing cashier training. Responsible for customer service area cleanliness & adherence to cashier duty checklist Monitor cashiers for schedule adherence, maintain sick log and call for replacements during shift. ADMINISTRATION Report any issues to Front End Manager in a timely manner. Must operate POS computer and accurately perform the following operations: Daily Cash Reconciliation, Safe Fund Balance, Change Fund Balance, Pickup, Loan, Cashier Reconciliation, and Withdraw from Safe. Communicate any POS software support issues to IT Manager or software support contractor. Should be able to perform opening/closing procedures according to established policies. Requirements Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in retail, hospitality, or food service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Basic proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and other relevant technology
