CASHIERING SPECIALIST
Our client is a well-esteemed SEC-registered Investment Advisor who is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cashiering Specialist to join their back office squad. This hybrid role is essential for ensuring the accurate and efficient operations of all cash-related transactions within their broker-dealer function. The ideal candidate possesses strong understanding of financial services operations and has a strong money movement backgroun (which could be from the banking world, as well).
Responsibilities
- Process incoming and outgoing funds, including wires, ACH transfers, and check deposits.
- Execute internal journal entries for fund transfers between accounts.
- Manage beneficiary claims and associated paperwork.
- Review and verify all money movement requests for completeness and accuracy.
- Reconcile payments across internal systems, bank statements, and accounting records.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to unmatched funds, returned items, or processing errors.
- Maintain meticulous records of all transactions for compliance, audit, and reporting purposes.
- Respond to inquiries from financial advisors and clients regarding cash movements, account statuses, and balances.
- Liaise with clearing firms and custodians to facilitate smooth transaction processing.
- Monitor and report on incoming wire activity.
- Ensure strict adherence to FINRA rules and other relevant securities regulations pertaining to money movement and record-keeping.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements within cashiering operations.
- Assist with system testing for new software or updates related to cash processing.
Qualifications
- Experience in a back-office operations role within a broker-dealer, bank or other kind of financial services firm.
- In-depth knowledge of cash processing, wire transfers, ACH transactions, and check handling.
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency with financial services software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
