Marking Demonstrating Teaching Support – Grade 5 Marking • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the subject area • Set and/or mark assessments according to relevant published criteria • Keep accurate records of marks awarded, liaising with the departmental assessment team as necessary • Provide oral and/or written feedback to students in line with departmental policy, procedures, and timescales Demonstrating • Guide students in the experimental laboratory, computing class, workshop or similar • Assist the class leader as required, such as developing enhanced experiments • Responsible for assisting in the delivery of classes. • Attend annual briefing for demonstrators • Attend training sessions for each activity • Assist the class supervisor in her/his duties in running the session • To be present throughout each taught session, with reasonable breaks • To ensure safe working practices and good order • Provide support for students in practical classes • Help ensure appropriate student conduct • May mark log books and field trip reports Teaching Support • Maintain registers and monitor attendance • Support the delivery of specific elements of the teaching programme as specified by the relevant department • Assist with the production of L&T materials • Assist and direct student projects as required • Help ensure appropriate student conduct and adherence to ethical guidelines, implementing the University’s code of conduct and reporting any concerns to the academic mentor • Monitoring the welfare of the student(s) and report any concerns immediately NB – the undertaking of marking above level 1 summative must be approved by the Executive Dean For guidance on marking which can be undertaken, please see: https://www.dur.ac.uk/learningandteaching.handbook/6/2/1/ To apply for the role please complete the online application process, uploading a copy of your CV and covering letter.
