Field Course Demonstrators required in the Department of Biosciences to support the Level 2 Ecology field course, June 2026. Terrestrial Ecology field course Lancashire 2026 (2 demonstrators) You need to be available for the full period 22 and 26 June 2026 to assist academic staff (Dr Kieran Lawrence) with the running of the field course with ~50 undergraduate students around Silverdale, Lancashire. The field course will comprise a range of ecological activities with plants, mammals, birds and invertebrates in a range of (mainly terrestrial) habitats. Responsibilities for the Field Course Demonstrator post will comprise: • Travelling with and leading small groups of undergraduates in the field • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety best practice • Supervising and advising on the carrying out of ecology and behaviour fieldwork, data analysis and interpretation, supporting the identification of taxa and information on their ecology / behaviour • Assisting with field equipment preparation and other relevant roles identified by staff Key competencies Required • First degree in Biosciences or another relevant subject • An understanding of, and experience in, employing field biology methods and data analysis / interpretation (e.g. ecology, behaviour, evolution, environmental physiology).
