Job Description Join Our Team as a Casual Banquet Houseperson at Fairmont Olympic Hotel! The Banquet Houseman position entails physically setting up a function room based upon the Banquet Event Order. The position involves reading a BEO and determining which equipment is needed, understanding the design of the room, determining linen requirements and paper supplies necessary to completer the banquet event. The activities would include lifting up to 75 lbs. vacuuming carpets, polishing glass and mirror tops, delivering boxes of materials for clients, etc. This is a front of house, guest service position requiring above average communication skills to speak properly to guests and employees. Key Responsibilities: To be an ambassador of the hotel, in and outside the work place Responsible for maintaining a high energy, positive, professional appearance To provide a personal service to all the guests, fully aware and following the hotel standards and procedure To relay accurate directions to guests/visitors on inquiries regarding washrooms, meeting rooms and or meal rooms To assist staff member to insure they maximize their service standards To call the supervisor or manager for advice in serious cases or if an approval is required To be fully aware of and to report all guests’ complaints and comments To strictly respect the key handling procedures To respect schedules, terms and deadlines as agreed with the Management To share daily activity with the supervisor, including internal and external guest opportunities Adhere to Fairmont Olympic Hotel service standards To be entirely flexible and adapt to last minute request through the hotel or guests To carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by Management Perform opening and/or closing duties, as per the position requires Qualifications Customer services experience preferred Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities and handle a multitude of tasks, colleagues and guest requests A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment Passion for guest service, strong guest service orientation and training skills required Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays Banquet or Event experience preferred Visa Requirements; Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
