REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years’ experience in a café, canteen or similar hospitality environment
  • Proven ability to lead and train a small team
  • Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk texturing, and recipe adherence
  • Experience managing inventory and ordering supplies
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain coffee equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20kg

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Casual Barista is responsible for delivering high-quality coffee and exceptional customer service while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment. This role involves overseeing coffee preparation, managing stock and supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The Barista is also responsible for fostering a positive team culture and assisting in training and development.

BARISTA DUTIES

  • Operate and maintain coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and brewing devices.
  • Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, and other ingredients, ensuring timely restocking.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee station, adhering to hygiene standards.
  • Perform bi-monthly equipment servicing and weekly deep cleaning, including grinders.
  • Meet coffee-related COGS KPI targets.
  • Ensure day-to-day cleanliness and internal audit compliance.

FRONT-OF-HOUSE DUTIES

  • Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide menu recommendations.
  • Process payments efficiently and accurately, handling cash and electronic transactions.
  • Serve food and beverages to tables, ensuring prompt and friendly service.
  • Clean and set tables, ensuring the dining area is tidy and always welcoming.
  • Restock food and beverage items, maintaining adequate inventory levels.
  • Lead from the front with a visible presence in the venue during service.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to venue and company service standards.
