General Information The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to join our organization as a casual Events Services Worker at the Cowichan Community Centre, within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Programs & Events Coordinator, and supervised by a Recreation Programmer II, the Events Services Worker is involved in a variety of janitorial and maintenance tasks, as well as set-up and breakdown for events relating to the operation of public skating sessions, special events, sports and recreation programs. Qualifications Grade 10, or the equivalent combination of education / training and experience Experience in a maintenance capacity in the area of recreation and or sports, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience WHMIS Certificate – provided by employer Basic First Aid certificate (can be obtained after being hired) Valid Class 5 Drivers License is an asset – employer provided vehicle View the full job description listing all the job requirements. Hours of Work As this is a casual opportunity, there are no guaranteed hours of work. Hours of work are scheduled based on operational need. Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts including days & evenings on weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days. Salary This casual opportunity is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and is compensated in three steps $22.40 - $23.01 - $23.67 per hour (2025 rates), plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and stat holidays.
