We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Casual Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic catering team at Cranfield University. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a passion for food preparation and a strong team ethic.
Working hours will primarily be during the daytime, but flexibility is essential. You will be expected to work some evenings and weekends, depending on business needs. Due to the nature of the shift patterns, this position is not suitable on any applicants whom rely on public transport.
This role focuses on basic food preparation. You will assist chefs with the preparation of buffets including, but not limited to sandwiches, vegetables, meat, and fish. As part of the wider Campus Services team, you will support catering operations across multiple kitchens and outlets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of buffets, sandwiches, salads, and accompaniments
  • Prepare foods to the required standard and in line with food safety regulations
  • Ensure timely delivery and attractive presentation of food for service
  • Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation areas
  • Support general kitchen duties when required
  • Work efficiently and calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Adapt to working in different kitchens and outlets across campus

  • Flexible with working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Food hygiene certification is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
