JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Casual Maintenance to join our team. Under the direction of the Hospice Manager the Maintenance person is responsible to maintain a clean, safe and working environment at Hospice House. Exceptional practices will be provided in a gentle manner that respects the privacy and dignity of clients and loved ones.
Maintenance shifts are Monday - Friday, five (5) days a week from 7:30 am to 14:30 pm with a thirty (30) minute unpaid meal break.

Qualifications:

  • Custodial Worker Training and experience or similar
  • Knowledge and experience in end-of-life care an asset
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures
  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check (we can help with this)
  • Provide evidence of Province of British Columbia Public Health Office immunization and tuberculosis control programs prior to employment including any recommended boosters as identified by the BC Public Health Office. (can be acquired when hired)
  • Preference to a valid BC driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for deliveries and pickups as needed (mileage provided

Responsibilities
  • Provides duties consistent with Hospice Mission, Vision, Team Values, policies and procedures
  • Provides maintenance services in a gentle manner that respects the privacy and dignity of clients and loved ones
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work assignments
  • Inspection, troubleshooting and minor repairs
  • Identifies and coordinates maintenance issues that require the services of outside contractors
  • Assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside contractors in consultation with the Operations Leader
  • Completes weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance duties, according to established checklists and manufacturer’s specifications, where applicable
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Informs Hospice Operations Manager of maintenance issues that require further follow-up or replacement
  • Reviews orders and stocks levels, report to Hospice Operations Manager for purchases
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment including the maintenance work room, maintenance storage, utility rooms, and crawl space.
  • Tools and equipment to be kept clean and safely stored
  • Responds on call to emergency maintenance requests
  • Provides delivery and pick up services for the residential program
  • Uses our online portal for daily and weekly work orders from team
  • Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings and workshops as required
