Description

Our L’Arche community is seeking an energetic, compassionate individual who is willing to share life alongside individuals with and without developmental disabilities. Successful applicants will learn new skills and develop meaningful relationships. Assistants gain valuable life skills and opportunities for personal growth and leadership. More than a job, the assistant role offers an exceptional and life-changing adventure in friendship and self-discovery.
As a respite worker, you will spend quality time with the individual and ensure they are safely returned to their residence at the end of each shift. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to build relationships, support others, and make a positive impact in someone’s life.
Respite services will be primarily provided in the employee’s home or within the community, rather than in the individual’s residence. Employees are expected to maintain a safe, welcoming environment in their home suitable for the individual receiving respite care. Community-based activities may include outings such as park visits, recreational centers, or other appropriate public settings, promoting social interaction and skill development.

  • Ability to travel to work during inclement weather, including winter storms and severe weather events or to make arrangements to find a suitable replacement
