ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
WORKING AT CQUNIVERSITY
The Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre (CMERC) was established in 2019 to undertake research that works with nature to build an economically and environmentally sustainable future to enrich our coastal communities. From the base of CQUniversity’s Gladstone Marina campus, in the industrial port city of Gladstone, CMERC neighbours the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA). CMERC staff have strong links with local industry, port and community groups and are working closely with Traditional Owners. CMERC has significantly grown its seagrass restoration operations in the last three years, and we are looking for a driven and experienced new team member to support CMERC’s seagrass restoration projects in the Whitsundays-Airlie Beach region.
The position will involve supporting the seasonal collection of seagrass propagules, processing samples, supporting field monitoring and maintenance of the seagrass nursery facility. As a research support worker, you will join our scientists in the field to collect seagrass flowers and assist in the preparation for and conduct of community collection events!
You will assist our scientists to monitor the progress of reseeding projects locally, monitor the condition of our new SeaGrow nursery and other responsibilities and duties as identified in the CQUniversity Roles/Responsibilities for research support workers (available on request).
