At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
The Aiming High Shorts Break Team provides positive activities and short breaks for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Swindon.
As a part of the team you will be working directly with children and young people with a range of additional support needs in a group setting. This may include personal care needs, medical needs, challenging behaviour and communication needs. The level of support can vary and may include one to one support. We offer a comprehensive paid training package to support you to do this.
Workers will support children and young people to build relationships, socialise, gain confidence, have fun and develop their life skills. You must have a positive attitude and be able to bring passion and energy to this role.
Workers are needed to cover a range of sessions, which include:
Basic GCSE standard or equivalent compensatory experience required. You will have experience of working with disabled children and young people, and share our passion for ensuring the best possible support is available. In return, we will ensure that you will receive a comprehensive induction program.
We encourage you to apply if you can offer availability for any or all of the above sessions.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
