POSITION: Shelter Worker
SUPERVISORS: Shelter Manager and Medical Manager
JOB TYPE: Casual, Permanent (most shifts are 8am-12pm; some 8am-3pm shifts, including weekends)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shelter Worker is responsible, under the direction of the Shelter Manager and the Medical Manager to take care of the animals, to ensure the cleanliness of the shelter at all times, to welcome the public, and assist the public in responsibly adopting an animal for the duration of its life.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Works independently as well as cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors;
  • Strong work ethic and a positive team attitude;
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment;
  • Pays high attention to the cleanliness of the shelter facility and its environment at all times;
  • Pays high attention to the animals overall wellbeing at SHAID
  • Displays discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy;
  • Adheres to high standards of confidentiality;
