The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences is offering one Social Media/Communications Internship to our student community. The purpose of this role is to support the post holder in the development of their skills in social media/website management, while providing student to student social media content on department platforms. The post holder will work with department staff to develop engaging and creative content that is in line with University brand guidelines and that best represents our department's community. This is a role that will create external facing communications representing the department, therefore it is essential that the post holder understands and takes seriously their responsibility. They must create content in line with ethical guidelines and that positively promotes the department. This is a flexible position that is designed to be managed alongside studies. On average, we expect a commitment of 2-4 hours per week, but this is flexible across the internship in line with your studies. Weekly timecards will be agreed with the line manager. The internship is available until the end of the current academic year. The below role descriptor seeks to capture the main requirements of the role consistently, providing a summary of the key duties of the flexible role to help in setting expectations for applicants, flexible workers and line managers. They are not intended to cover all duties which may be required. Role Responsibilities Social Media/Communications Assistant Casual rate Under instruction and following appropriate training: Proactively seek news stories and engagement opportunities from relevant stakeholders Create content for various communication methods, consulting with colleagues before publishing/posting where necessary Develop and maintain communication tools, which may include the department’s social media accounts and internal and external webpages associated to the department Develop communication templates for use within the department, for example emails, webpages and social media posts Essential Criteria · An interest in creating professional social media content that represents the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences student community. · An understanding of the responsibility of creating external facing content · Ability to engage and communicate with the student community · Good skills in time management and ability to prioritise own workload · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · Strong written and verbal communication skills To be eligible for the role, you must be a current student within the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
