Required:

• Relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy.
• Excellent teaching practice.
• A working with children’s check.
• A criminal record check.
• You are obliged to become familiar with, and comply with child protection policies and legislation, as amended from time to time.

Desirable:

• A current NSW driver’s licence.
• A first aid certificate.
• Skills and knowledge to communicate in Auslan is desirable.

We are currently creating a world-leading centre for innovation on-site at Macquarie University that represents a new era for hearing and vision loss. This nationally significant social infrastructure project will be a place to nurture, trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision.

THE ROLE

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Teacher to join our team at our new Macquarie site. NextSense is seeking casual relief teachers with a capacity to fill short and long blocks as they become available. Successful applicants will:

• Implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment/reporting requirements and implications of sensory loss.
• Implement teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Implement teaching activities that support the participation and learning of students with sensory loss and those with additional disability and adjust the teaching environment.
• Using current assessment data to set individual learning plans.
