UPMC Magee has partnered with UPMC Western Behavioral Health, a nationally recognized leader in mental health clinical care, to provide high quality, evidence-based treatment, expertise, and support to individuals in the perinatal period. We are looking for a Casual Therapist to join the team! Magee Behavioral Health is an outpatient mental health clinic, a part of Western Behavioral Health’s Adult Service Line of care. Our team includes clinicians providing individual and group therapy to patients who are pregnant, postpartum or have experienced a pregnancy/infant loss. We also offer medication management services with psychiatrists specialized in perinatal care. This position will work casual hours and be paid by service. Responsibilities: Provides mental health services, with some degree of autonomy, using designated individual treatment such as Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy and other agreed-upon models of care, to patients with depressive, anxiety, personality and other disorders. Demonstrates knowledge of WPIC system and is able to assess for appropriate level of care and make referrals to appropriate resources and clinics based on clinical evaluation in collaboration with patient. Able to independently perform psychiatric assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions in the majority of cases. Performs scheduled psychiatric evaluations for patients, providing support and assuming responsibility for appropriate disposition. Maintains contact, as needed, with the patient until assignment to the treating program. Provides group and family psychotherapy. In depth knowledge of group dynamics and Includes family members in treatment when clinically indicated. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the area of differential diagnosis of mood, anxiety, personality and other psychiatric disorders affecting adults. Masters Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work required. Other human service fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling. ATTENTION: A COPY OF YOUR MASTER’S TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and understanding of psychiatric theory and methodology. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and effective leadership skills in the care of psychiatric patients. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of DSM IV. Competence in the conduct of cognitive behavioral and other psychotherapy treatment. May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
