Job Details Job Location: Griffith, IN 46319 The role of the Catalyst Technician level I is to safely and efficiently remove catalyst from reactors, using gravity unload, or vessel entry and vacuum technology. Entry can be under inert (IDLH) conditions. The Catalyst Technician level I can safely and efficiently remove catalyst from multi bed reactors and remove manways to obtain access to below beds. Undertakes the key aspects of catalyst change-out processes for fixed bed reactors, tubular reactors or reformers following all CHR confined space and inert entry procedures Competent and able to perform all required tasks for multi-bed reactors under inert and normal atmosphere Proven competency to set up equipment, including safe rigging-up and securing vacuum pipe, vacuum hose, umbillicals and other items to the reactor. Communicate progress and is able to proactively spot issues inside reactor and to recommend solutions to Supervisor. Competent to correctly remove catalyst from multi bed reactors, tubular reactors or reformers, operate unloading cyclone, operate screening equipment, package catalyst Competent in QAQC role Conduct most mechanical activities inside the reactor Inspect the vessel and confirm it is clean and dust free Competent in loading catalyst in various reactor types, including single/multibed reactors, tubular reactors and reformers and re-install hardware Competently inspects loading and unloading equipment and ensure equipment set up and use follows CHR procedures Qualifications Required Qualifications: Inert entry certification Current negative hair follicle test TWIC-card Good background score to be able to enter all client facilities DOT Physical First Aid and CPR Confined space entry certification Plant required course and certifications Respirator fittest All refinery required courses and certificates Rigger basic or advanced Basic fitter Preferred: Current and valid driver license Forklift certificate Intermediate rigger (NCCER) Basic mechanical (NCCER) Controlled bolting training certificate Dense loading training and certification High Angle Rescue certification CHR Console Operator certificate Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge of reactors and internals CHR and client Confined space and inert entry procedures Complete knowledge of reactors and internals Catalyst screen operations Mechanical skills for CHR tasks Sized to be able to fit through manways Fit enough to do physical activities for four hours inside confined space while in a chemical ty-vek suit and wearing a helmet for air supply Fit for work / physically able to fit through 20' manways and work inside confined space for sustainable period of time in protective clothing and helmet Able to work methodically and able to work in a team Safety conscious Leader, able to instruct clearly and effectively Use video recording devices and show client live loading in progress Able to work safely and methodically Able to work in a team Productivity focused and solutions driven Experience: 5 years as inert confined space catalyst handling technician
