This position is for a catastrophe analyst, based in one of our key analytics hubs (London, Ipswich,) to join the LatAm Catastrophe Analytics team. The Catastrophe Analytics team, embedded into the broking unit, assists clients in analysing the risk to their business from all aspects of natural perils and catastrophic events. For the right candidate there may also be an opportunity to take a leading role coordinating and contributing to build tangible solutions/service offerings for our clients. How you'll make an impact Contribute to renewal modelling projects on local and global accounts and develop & deploy service offering to clients, alongside our research teams and external academic partners. Quantify the catastrophe risk to Gallagher Re client portfolios using vendor catastrophe models and Gallagher Re proprietary models. Contribute to evaluate and develop Gallagher Re’s view of risk Engage with clients, reinsurers, brokers & actuaries on topics including model interpretation, portfolio management and bespoke analytical projects. Contribute to Gallagher Re’s wider Catastrophe Analytics services, collaborating with other business units on wider projects, as part of our agile team. Understand and evaluate the impact of updates and revisions to models and the outputs produced. Contribute to reporting and analysis of natural disasters to support client’s post-event. Work and potentially travel to visit colleagues in a variety of locations, including across Miami, Central & South America and our analytics hub in India. About you A degree in numerate or hazard-related subjects preferrable Experience in the (re)insurance market and in catastrophe risk analysis using the main vendor models desirable Working knowledge of (re)insurance business including understanding reinsurance structures and their application desirable Ability to be client facing and lead our analytics relationship with clients. Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail Technology skills key – working knowledge of SQL and other coding languages (e.g., python, R) desirable Excellent communication skills. Spanish speaking ability will be hugely beneficial The ability to work in a team and highly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leader.
Responsibilities
The analyst will contribute to renewal modeling projects globally, quantifying catastrophe risk for client portfolios using vendor and proprietary models. They will also engage with clients, reinsurers, and brokers on model interpretation and bespoke analytical projects.
