Category Innovation Manager
About the role
The Respiratory/OHC Category Innovation Manager owns the delivery of the portfolio Innovation pipelines necessary for CEE to achieve performance and growth goals. The role is accountable for building innovation platforms that extend across brands in Respiratory/OHC Category to drive brands growth in the 1-5 year timeframe and beyond.
This individual, along with the broader Haleon team, owns the quantity and quality of the pipeline, helps to define project prioritization within the team, and influences cross-functional alignment to ensure timely progression and launch of innovations. This individual must have strong executive presence, ability to deliver strategic recommendations, high change agility and resilience, a high bias for action, and urgency and a strong sense of risk management.
Role Responsibilities
- Build category innovation strategies and platforms (aligned to Category/ Brand Long-Term Strategies)
- Helps to ensure robust 1-5 year Brand pipelines for all channels (incl eComm) with sufficient and supportable cadence
- Ideate and lead innovation projects through stage gates as PAL (Project Accountable Leader), in accordance with the Haleon Innovation Model. Ideation includes concept development, research, and consumer validation
- Ensure quality of pipeline via creation and evaluation of project business cases with strong desirability/viability/feasibility/sustainability profiles
- Lead Category innovation transformation initiatives to drive faster speed-to-market.
- Represent Category pipelines and projects internally (e.g. governance and leadership meeting)
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a highly matrixed and interdependent environment
- The individual in this role will have support from others on the team depending on the project(s)
Why you?
Basic Qualifications
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years marketing, brand management or innovation experience.
- End to end innovation experience - from early on ideation to commercialization for simple & complex innovation
- Experience setting innovation strategies, creating and executing platforms, managing end-to-end development, and launching new product introductions in market.
- Experience with leadership of multi-faceted market research and ideas validations
- Exceptional leadership skills, including ability to lead and influence up, down and over with a matrixed organization
- Experience in managing/overseeing multi-brand platforms
- Positive, can-do mindset, with the ability to motivate a cross-functional team
- Strong executive presence – can communicate effectively, manage multiple stakeholders and drive to decisions
Preferred Qualifications
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
MBA
- Significant experience in Analytics and Facility with P&Ls including ability to build business cases
- Excellent storytelling capabilities with high level communication skills
- Strong strategic skills, including ability to analyze, identify opportunities, and build fact-based cases for investment
- Entrepreneurial experience
- Ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations including organizational changes and changes in job demands
- Comfortable challenging status-quo. Proactive in identifying, leading and implementing change initiatives.
