As a category leader, you will implement the company vision and category objectives for a category of merchandise. You will be responsible for developing and leading the category to achieve sales and profitability targets through product excellence and competitive advantage, consistent with overall merchandising and corporate strategy. By driving innovation and fostering strong relationships with vendors, you will make a significant impact on our customers’ lives, ensuring they have access to the best products that enhance their experience and meet their needs.
In this role, the successful candidate is needed to be in lower mainland Vancouver, BC area, where we practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Create, in conjunction with senior leaders, a long-term strategic vision for the business and sets business objectives
  • Establish an annual budget that reflects current market conditions and the long-term business plan
  • Utilize market & product knowledge, vendor insight, and store feedback to determine an assortment strategy for the category (store & on-line)
  • Select products, negotiate cost and retail/promotional prices
  • Create and maintain a sku-level forecast as an output of the assortment, pricing and promotional strategies and plans for the category
  • Be responsible for negotiating Vendor Master Agreements (VMAs), Annual Vendor Programs
  • Own, in conjunction with the senior leaders, the vendor relationships, understand vendor priorities and seeks out win-win opportunities
  • Create, in conjunction with senior leaders and the Digital Retail and Marketing teams, a promotional/advertising strategy for the category that meets category objectives
  • Work with the Space Management Coordinator to planogram the category within the available space
  • Determine promotional signage to support promotional plan and responsible for final signoff for content and messaging accuracy.
