Description

At Catawiki, every day brings the extraordinary! Whether it’s Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 Car, a Woolly Mammoth’s Skeleton, Lady Gaga’s Jumpsuit or Usain Bolt’s running shoe, we encounter exceptional objects every day.
We’re a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects! Each week we offer over 75,000 unique items in auction, carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts.

Having sold over 20 million unique objects to date, we’re on a mission to become the world’s most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale-up, we proudly live by our core values:

  • Taking ownership and driving impact
  • Being open to change and feedback
  • Being passionate about our mission and our customers.

If these values resonate with you, we’d love to explore how you can join us on this exciting journey!

OUR OFFICES AND WAY OF WORKING

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means that you will be in the office 2 out of 5 days (40% of your working time) to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. That said, some roles may be an exception: if the job description states that the position is fully remote or 100% office-based, that arrangement will apply instead.

ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM

The Art world is shifting - fast. At Catawiki, we’re leading that change, building one of the world’s most dynamic online destinations for Art collectors, galleries, and connoisseurs. Our Secondary Market division sits at the heart of this ambition.
We’re looking for a bold, entrepreneurial leader to take this category to the next level. In this role, you’ll lead a diverse team of international Art Experts, each with deep curatorial expertise across Modern and Contemporary Art. Your mission? To design and scale the most trusted, engaging, and commercially powerful online offering for artworks with a past—from blue-chip artists to emerging cult names.
You’ll work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Tech to deliver high-performing auctions, fuel seller growth, and ensure Catawiki’s Secondary Art offering remains relevant, desirable, and one step ahead of the market. You’ll also be joining Catawiki’s broader leadership community, contributing to cross-category initiatives and driving innovation in how we connect exceptional objects with passionate buyers worldwide.
This is not a legacy role. It’s a growth challenge—for someone ready to define what the future of the online art market should look like.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own the Art Secondary Market strategy: Lead and evolve the category strategy for Secondary Market Art, ensuring it aligns with Catawiki’s vision, business goals, and user expectations.
  • Curate exceptional auctions: Drive the creation of highly relevant, commercially strong and thematically engaging auctions by collaborating closely with your team of in-house Art Experts.
  • Maximise seller relationships and growth: Partner with Sales to acquire, develop and retain high-potential sellers, from galleries to individual collectors, ensuring continuous supply of quality lots.
  • Drive data-informed decision making: Monitor key business metrics (GMV, conversion, lot quality, buyer engagement) and use insights to guide improvements in selection, pricing, and curation practices.
  • Lead and empower a high-performing team: Coach and develop your team of Experts by setting clear goals, giving actionable feedback, and fostering ownership and accountability across the category.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally for impact: Work with Marketing, Product, and Operations teams to improve user experience, launch innovative initiatives, and expand the reach of your category globally.
