Our Merchandise team works with supplier partners and store teams on category ranging, buying, pricing and promotions so we can get the right products on the right shelves at the right time for our customers. Te Tūranga – About the role We’re looking for a Category Manager – Butchery Small Goods to help shape and deliver the Co‑op’s customer‑driven meat offer across our retail banners. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced commercial role, working within a motivated Butchery category team. You’ll use customer insights and category management principles to drive growth, strong value perception, and great execution in‑store – while balancing pricing, promotions, innovation and supplier relationships. You’ll work closely with the Business Manager – Butchery, store teams, suppliers and internal partners, contributing to strategic initiatives that support our members and ultimately our customers. Ideally, you’ll bring: Category management or commercial experience in FMCG, grocery retail and/or meat Strong commercial and analytical capability, particularly across pricing and promotions Proven supplier negotiation and relationship‑building experience A customer‑led mindset with an understanding of retail trends Great planning, communication and stakeholder management skills A proactive, solutions‑focused and adaptable working style The ability to manage early starts, aligned to the rhythm of the meat category Experience awesome.
