Description

The Category Manager for FoodStory Brands reports directly to the COO and an outside Consultant. This person will work alongside a team of 3-4 Sales Directors that call on national and regional grocers and distributors to expand distribution of food and beverage branded, private label, and licensed products directly or via a strategic brokerage network. This role serves an integral function working alongside the sales team to deliver persuasive fact-based stories and actionable insight that deepens our position as a value-added partner with our customers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years experience in a CPG Category Development role directly working alongside the sales team (retailer-facing experience preferred)
  • Experience analyzing data across a variety of category management insight areas, including: price and promotion optimization, assortment rationalization, new item performance, basket affinity analysis, cross shop, source of volume, switching, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of core data sets including point-of-sale (Nielsen/Circana/SPINS) and household data (Nielsen/Circana/SPINS/Numerator)
  • Experience with retailer-specific shopper data platforms (Walmart Luminate or 8451 Stratum preferred)
  • Robust storytelling skills and ability to visualize data in a compelling manner (portfolio of examples will be preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills, presentation skills, and follow-up skills
  • Travel 10-20%
Responsibilities
  • Retailer-Centric Story Telling: Assist the sales team in creating data-driven insights and strategic recommendations delivered in a relevant, concise, and digestible manner for our customers
  • Analytic Infrastructure: Help manage and expand our suite of analytic tools, consolidating diverse insight across multiple providers into cohesive dashboards, performance trackers, and business intelligence visualized analysis
  • Executive Reporting: Analyze, summarize, and communicate product and category performance to key internal stakeholders to help aid in evaluating current and future strategies
  • Trade Management Analysis: Perform post-promotion analysis to gauge effectiveness of historic execution while utilizing internal trade management and forecasting processes to inform any needed revision to future pricing strategy
  • Assortment Optimization: Provide analysis and recommendations to optimize product assortments based on product performance and shopper insight
