Description
About Taager Taager.com is a leading social commerce platform reshaping e-commerce across the region. We empower online merchants, social sellers, and entrepreneurs by handling the heavy lifting—from sourcing high-demand products to managing warehousing, shipping, and cash collection. By bridging the gap between top-tier suppliers and a massive network of independent sellers, Taager enables anyone to start and scale their e-commerce business with zero upfront inventory costs. We are looking for a strategic, data-driven, and entrepreneurial Category Manager to take full ownership of their category, identify the next viral winning products, and build unbeatable supplier partnerships that fuel our merchants' success. Role Overview As a Category Manager at Taager, you won’t just manage a portfolio—you will own its market dominance strategy. You will sit at the intersection of data science, trend forecasting, negotiation, and cross-functional execution. Your primary mission is to curate a high-converting, high-margin SKU portfolio, build strong supplier alliances, and design commercial playbooks that maximize Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) and merchant retention. Key Responsibilities 1. Category Strategy & Market Leadership Execute Dominance Playbooks: Develop and implement aggressive category strategies to outperform competitors, capture market share, and position Taager as the go-to platform for your category. Whitespace Identification: Actively analyze competitor benchmarks, merchant demand, and macro trends to identify untapped product gaps and high-potential niches. Commercial Optimization: Define dynamic pricing, promotion, and assortment strategies that strike the perfect balance between maximizing GMV, protecting margins, and driving merchant conversion. 2. Data-Driven Product Curation & Supplier Partnerships Portfolio Curation: Build and maintain a high-performing SKU mix using data analytics, conversion rates, and social media trends (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) to spot the next "hero" products. Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation: Partner with key manufacturers and suppliers to secure exclusive deals, early product launches, and highly differentiated offerings that give our merchants a competitive edge. Assortment Mix Management: Strategically balance the portfolio across high-volume hero products, emerging trends, and seasonal must-haves to maintain consistent, year-round category growth. 3. Cross-Functional Growth Execution Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the Marketing and Growth teams to design category-specific campaigns, flash sales, and influencer-driven promotions that boost merchant adoption. Supply Chain Alignment: Coordinate closely with Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure optimal inventory health, rapid fulfillment, and fast stock turnover while minimizing out-of-stock scenarios. Merchant Feedback Loop: Work alongside the Merchant Success team to gather direct feedback from our sellers, using their insights to refine category strategies and improve product satisfaction. 4. Innovation & Scaling Commercial Piloting: Experiment with novel commercial models, including product bundling, subscription offerings, and localized regional assortments to unlock new revenue streams. Team Upskilling: Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative culture and elevating Taager’s overall category management capabilities. Continuous Improvement: Champion a "test-and-learn" culture by leveraging A/B testing, data experiments, and process optimization to scale the category efficiently. What Will Make You Successful Core Competencies Strategic Commercial Acumen: The ability to translate complex market insights and competitive intelligence into winning, actionable category strategies. Data-Driven Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills; highly proficient in Excel, with practical experience using SQL or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) to dissect performance and forecast trends. Supplier & Partner Influence: A masterful negotiator capable of building trust, securing exclusive commercial terms, and influencing external partners. Entrepreneurial Agility: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and possess a strong bias for action (test, learn, and scale quickly). Experience & Qualifications Years of Experience: 3–5+ years of proven experience in E-commerce, Retail Merchandising, B2B marketplaces, or Category Management. Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in launching, managing, and scaling high-growth product lines or categories within a competitive market.
