Description Maplevale Farms is seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about building a career within a family-owned business that prioritizes strong values. This is a Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm postition. Starting rate is $24/hr. Travel is required. The Category Manager will oversee products and suppliers within their categories. *Please note that this job is located in Falconer NY currently. However, in 2027 the new location will be in Findley Lake NY. Duties – Category Manager Negotiate accrual programs, growth programs, food show allowances, golf outing program and spot deals with suppliers Negotiate Sales SPIFF’s and promos Look at and evaluate new products and suppliers for stock Side by side product comparisons Assist sales force in product sourcing Negotiate product pricing Attend Unipro conferences and meet with suppliers Coordinate products for ads & flyers Set up product codes and new supplier numbers Work with sales reps and brokers to move out obsolete inventory Sales meeting participation Product quality assurance Some order placement Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance. Profit Sharing Paid time off Pay will be based on experience Work hours, Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4pm Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Understanding of business and management principles. Education and Experience: At least three years of experience in related field required. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs. Requires travel.
Responsibilities
The Category Manager will be responsible for overseeing products and suppliers within assigned categories, which includes negotiating various programs, allowances, and deals with suppliers. Duties also involve evaluating new products, assisting the sales force with sourcing, negotiating pricing, and coordinating product logistics for advertisements.
