Description The Grande Colonial, an iconic 97 room hotel located in La Jolla, is seeking a Catering and Event Specialist to join our Sales team. The Catering and Event Specialist will play a vital role in assisting guests create their corporate or social events. Responsibilities: Assists the Director of Sales and Catering Sales Manager with administrative duties including but not limited to word processing, account data entry management, customer follow-up, maintains files, updates catering menus, and communicates with culinary and banquet staff. Act as the main service liaison for in-house group meetings and catering events. Call, email, and follow up with clients to plan guest room blocks, menu details, set up details, audio visual orders while adhering to all catering guidelines. Manages the contracted room block and drafts and distributes group resumes. Drafts and secures signed banquet event orders. Upsells food and beverage menu items and audio visual to suit the clients needs. Requirements: Associate's or equivalent from a two-year college and/or 1-2 years of experience in a similar role. Degree in hospitality or related field and/or prior catering/event planning and detailing experience preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
