Description
Duties: Provide musical accompaniment for Catholic Masses, liturgies, and special services. Play piano or organ for congregational singing, choir performances, and other musical elements during worship. Collaborate with the Catholic Music Director and Catholic Priest to select appropriate liturgical music. Attend and participate in weekly choir rehearsals. Accompany special liturgical celebrations, including Christmas, Easter, Holy Days of Obligation, weddings, and sacramental ceremonies. Assist in maintaining a high standard of musical quality, ensuring a prayerful and reverent worship experience. Prepare prelude, offertory, and postlude music that aligns with the liturgical calendar and Mass structure. Comply with copyright laws when selecting and performing music. Maintain the chapel’s musical instruments, ensuring proper care and usage. Requirements: Strong familiarity with Catholic liturgical music, traditions, and worship practices. Proficiency in playing piano and/or organ, with the ability to sight-read, transpose, and develop musical accompaniment. Minimum of two years of experience as an accompanist in a Catholic church or similar setting. Ability to collaborate with choir directors, clergy, and other musicians to enhance the worship experience.
