APPLICATION DEADLINE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28TH AT 4PM JOB DESCRIPTION   Job Title: Instructional Paraprofessional Educator, Special Education Reports To: Director of Special Education or Designee  FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt Department: Special Education Work Year:          180 instructional days  Monday-Friday work hours between 9:00am-3:30pm (Up to 25 Hours per week)   OVERVIEW: Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these    strategies with children. Virtual school paraeducators are part of a pioneering effort.   SUMMARY: Under the direction the Director of Special Education or Designee, and in cooperation with a credentialed education specialist, this position performs duties necessary to assist in providing specialized academic    instruction (SAI) and intensive individual special education instruction to students in our special education program virtually or in person, as needed.  In person support will be provided within the student’s home learning environment.  This position is paid at an hourly rate, for time spent working with students.   Responsibilities * Provide in-person support to students, as determined by their IEP. * Support student learning in GE classes or SAI classes as whole group * Work in breakout rooms for both general education (GE) and SAI under the supervision of a credentialed teacher * Record student activity in GE when pushing in * Collect work samples from time spent with them during push in in GE. * Assist education specialist in monitoring and collecting student performance data and other  IEP input * Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials and/or skills introduced and outlined by teaching staff * Provide support for students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in educational activities * Serves as a resource person to various teams (e.g. IEP, Title 1, ESL) * Attend necessary training sessions associated with individual students as required by student IEP (e.g. medical procedures, IEP meetings, etc.) * Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback * Model a personal code of ethics aligned with CAVA’s policies * Maintains necessary records * Uses direction from special education administrative team to carry out duties * Maintain high expectations for all students and a deep belief that all students can learn * Complete Crisis Prevention Institute training(CPI), as needed for in-person student support. * Other duties as assigned   Work Year * Instructional days are during regular school year and will be utilized for direct student support, as well as related activities * Non-instructional days will be scheduled throughout the school year, aligned with our school calendar.  Paraprofessionals will not work on non-instructional days for students.  REQUIREMENTS Have at least one of the following:   1. Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60+ college units) 2. Have an associate’s or higher degree, or 3.
