QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:

• Have a professional qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and be accredited with the BABCP.
• Appropriately trained and experienced in EMDR and at least working towards EMDR accreditation.
• Can demonstrate 4 years’ experience of working as a CBT therapist and EMDR therapist.
• Evidence of current continuing professional development and clinical supervision.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of working with trauma models and NICE guidelines for all common mental health presentations.

EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working therapeutically with police and/or other emergency service or military personnel.
• Experience of undertaking clinical needs assessment and online telephone and e-therapeutic treatment.
• Experience of providing effective, time limited interventions.
• Experienced in undertaking trauma psychometrics.
• Experience and knowledge of both psychological and pharmacological treatment guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge and experience delivering trauma focused therapies.
• Knowledge of emergency services mental health challenges and relevant literature.
• Awareness of wider challenges experienced by police officers today.
• Clear understanding of and commitment to the Police Care UK vision and values.

SKILLS:

• Excellent IT skills, including strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong communication and numerical skills.
• Highly motivated and resourceful with a proactive, flexible, and innovative can-do approach.
• Willingness to undertake any associated training needed to deliver the role.
• Ability to deal with distressing, challenging and often sensitive material.
• Self-awareness and effective wellbeing balance.
• A willingness to attend and deliver psychological therapies at Police Care UK’s Intensive Trauma Service (if required).
  Hours of work: The basic hours of work are up to 35 hours per week spread over 5 working days.

The jobholder will be required to work within the rules and regulations of the Charity and accept the authority of the Chief Executive, who has the discretion to delegate authority to the jobholder and to withdraw it.

• To work within Police Care UK’s therapeutic team conducting robust clinical triages/assessments and delivering evidence-based psychological therapies for common mental health problems including PTSD and C/PTSD to beneficiaries within the agreed criteria.
• To be able to work autonomously and hold a clinical caseload if required Maintain confidentiality, written and electronic records of clinical information which are written, with relevant policies and professional guidelines. Provide professional reports for the charity and for legal purposes, if needed.
• Deputise for Psychological Service Lead as required including prioritising referrals and distributing beneficiaries to the appropriate level of intervention.
• To support projects to develop digital therapeutic products including trauma prevention and ITS
• Ensure application and use of evidence-based psychological interventions and appropriate outcome measures when managing caseload.
• Complete comprehensive clinical risk assessments and psychometric questionnaires and interpret when necessary.
• To be able to signpost to alternative organisations accordingly.
• Actively deliver and support Intensive Trauma Service (ITS) therapy in person and digitally if required. Must be able to work collaboratively with the other ITS practitioners on site during residentials if required.
• Act as a point of contact to Police Force Occupational Health enquiries and liaison. To work directly with the Director of Clinical and Beneficiary Services and Psychological Services Lead about ITS services and functions.
• To contribute to the gathering of service feedback and to aid the development of the service and support and implement audits, research and service evaluation to facilitate the development and improvement of services.
• To contribute to the referral meetings and other assessment functions within the therapeutics services as needed.
• To monitor allocated cases through their therapeutic journey within the service, advising and liaising with the Psychological Services Lead and external therapists as required / directed, including NEST therapists.
• To provide clinical supervision and support to other clinical team members.
• To engage with peer clinical supervision and wider support groups. Maintain regular continuing professional development and attend regular supervision in accordance with good practice, to ensure adherence to clinical governance standards.
• Provide training, psychoeducation groups, therapeutic workshops, teaching, consultation, and advice to internal and external stakeholders including beneficiaries. To convene, attend and contribute to clinical multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences (where necessary).
• Always maintain professional codes of conduct.
• Maintain confidentiality of information in adherence with all relevant policies, procedures and professional guidelines.
• To complete all administrative duties this role requires.
